The Morning Bulletin, Rockhampton – January 23, 2014
WORK is set to start within a fortnight on the $500 million housing development on Yeppoon’s Pineapple Patch.
HomeCorp Property Group chief executive Ron Bakir said Stage 1 would include 48 allotments, a park and playground, as well as a significant entry statement.
The 130ha working pineapple farm on Yeppoon Rd will, during 10 years, be transformed into a 950-allotment, master-planned community.
It will be home to about 2500 people when it is finished. Construction will create more than 500 jobs.
Mr Bakir said the development was on the gateway between Rockhampton and Yeppoon and offered residents the best of both worlds.
Livingstone Shire Council Mayor Bill Ludwig said the development was a great indicator of investor confidence on the Capricorn Coast.
“We have been identified as a very desirable location,” Cr Ludwig said.
“This is the entry statement for the Capricorn Coast.”
